At 2:28pm local time, an earthquake measuring 2.8 on the Richter Scale shook China. The strongest earthquake to hit Sichuan in 50 years, it’s epicentre was near Dujiangyuan, near Chengdu, where in Beichuan Xiang 80% of buildings collapsed. In this county alone 3-5,000 people are feared dead, with 10,000 injured. As the earthquake struck in the middle of the day, children and students were at school, and people were at their workplaces. Workplaces were vacated for safety reasons, but one middle school collapsed with approximately 900 students inside. Villagers rushed to the rescue scene where workers are attempting to free the survivors. The PLA (People’s Liberation Army) has been sent in to help with the disaster, mobilising troops and helicopters.

Note the stark comparison between the Chinese response and that of Burma. Whatever your political views, China’s army have been key in helping China survive many disasters in the past.

    中国和缅甸面对自然灾难反映非常不一样。无论你有什么政治看法,你不能否认中国军队面对灾难的反映又快又有效。缅甸应该好好地学习中国的.
